Handcuffed to a Gate

On my way home, I passed by the city police station and saw a half-naked old man cuffed to the station's gate.

Didn't know how to react to that but what I felt that very moment was pity towards the man. I mean, if he committed a crime, at least the police should have put him in the jail where it's proper. Not flaunt him around like he did the biggest crime of the century.

Yes, you might be thinking: "He's a criminal, he deserved it!" People, he's still human - JUST LIKE YOU. What if he was only accused of a crime he didn't do?

This stops here. I have nothing else to say. I just want to voice this out.

Because It's a Limited Edition

Source: Kaboodle

One or two years ago, my mom scent a package filled with perfume testers, jewelries, jewelry box and a Victoria's Secret Dewy Peach body mist which I totally fell in-love with... because it just smelled sooo good! It was like heaven on Earth. And I bet every girl would want to smell like it.

Time came, I ended up with an empty bottle and forgot to ask my mom for another one until I have completely forgotten about it. 2012 came and, suddenly, I realized how much I wanted to wear that perfume again as much as Pooh needs his honey.

So, I Googled for the keyword: Victoria's Secret peach perfume, and many results came up but none of THE ONE I was looking for. I can still remember the drawing, though, so that itself helped me other than the 'peach' word.

Turns out it was a limited edition Victoria's Secret Body Mist. Imagine the frustration I felt when I knew that if I looked for anyone who's selling it online, it'll be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

I did somehow manage to get two possible sellers at Multiply but it's already late in the evening and texting them at this hour would be rude. Even though the impatient person in me is dying and I do mean dying to know if it's still available, I can't do anything but wait until the sun rises.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Frustration of a Wonderstruck Fan

I love YouTube. It's like one of the most incredible things that has happened to the internet or even mankind. I know you watch movies most of the time there.

While I was Tube-ing, I came across Taylor Swift's perfume ad which she named Wonderstruck. It is in cooperation with Elizabeth Arden, a company known for its innovative beauty products, and was launched in 2011.

What appealed to me was how good the bottle looks! It really is as attractive as Taylor Swift. You know when people say: "You are beautiful, inside and out."? Wonderstruck can be defined as that. And the great thing about it is that the reviews are amazing.

The perfume got its name from Swift's Enchanted song which has the lyrics: "I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home." which interprets your feelings when you meet someone you like for the first time. I wouldn't mind feeling that way again. And the way it smells? It's a perfect mix of raspberry, dewberry, freesia, green tea, Hawaiian blanket (I wonder how that smells), honeysuckle, vanilla (ooh, I love vanilla), musk, peach and sandalwood. And the perfume is available in 50 and 100ml.

Wonderstruck may sound and smell pretty good to me but my frustration is, I don't know where I can buy it online that doesn't require PayPal. I've tried looking it up on Multiply as it's more open to money transfer platforms. I want a site that can make me choose payment methods other than PayPal.

I do have a Visa Eon card but I haven't put any money in it yet. I still am pretty pissed at UnionBank for not making things clear with me and my card. Won't go much into the details as it would take a long time.

You can tell I'm itching to get a hold of Taylor Swift's perfume. Other than Victoria's Secret's Peach Dew, Wonderstruck would be a great perfume for me to wear over and over.

Amanda's Books Part 1

Heya! I don't know if I told you that I love to read. To be honest, I can't count how many I've read since the first grade. Mom had a lot of books back home and I have probably read a parenting book at such a young age - it's not even close to legal. Give or take, third grade. She didn't have a bookshelf, and I'd always find some of her books in different parts of our house.

So, anyway, my mom recently sent a package filled with clothes, shoes and books (I was elated!). Books always seem to fascinate me and I love books that have cute cover illustrations and colors. So, when I saw a pink-colored book, I was like: I have to read this!

Here are the list of books that she sent me today.

Kay Thompson's Eloise

This is the pink book that I was referring to. I thought I was going back to my old, childish self but then again, I read this:

"A book for precocious grown-ups, about a little girls who lives at The Plaza Hotel."

And, so, I heaved a sigh of relief. Illustration books are not just for kids.

Wendy Mass' Finally

Another good-looking cover. Finally is a book that any mom, sister, or friend should give to a girl who's turning 12 - an age where they feel the need to be independent and all grown up.

Synopsis:

Rory Swenson has been waiting her whole life to turn twelve. And she's got a list to prove it. Whenever Rory asks her parents for something, they always say, "When you're twelve, when you're twelve..." Well, in exactly 18 hours, 36 minutes, and 52 seconds, it will finally happen. Rory's life will officially begin!

Fun, funny, and full of surprises, this is a story about wanting to grow up even when the universe seems to be telling you to wait.

Absolute Victory

Due to my lack of knowledge about the World War II, this book got me curious. According to the book, this volume traces the last year of that great conflict, concluding with the triumph over Japan and Germany that Roosevelt had promised. This plunges us directly into the headlong days of World War II- America's finest hour.

Rick Riordan's The Lost Hero

The moment I saw it, I had this gut feeling that it's going to be made into a movie. What with the likes of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Twilight, it's not impossible.

What's great about this book is that it's inspired and based on Greek and Roman mythology which is, in itself, two of the most-loved mythology of all time. My cousin's very well versed with the Greek mythology, just so you know. This book was released on October last year.

That sums up the books that I've received and will read right after the weekdays. Can't wait!

I Heart Lulu's

My mom and I are like soul mates when it comes to online shopping. We'd Skype each other in intervals and most often that not, we end up looking for cute clothes, shoes, bags and jewelries online. We're like girl friends to say the least to which I'm happy about - although, my mom is a lot fashion forward than I am. I try to keep it casual and am happy with jeans and shirts + clogs and heels. My fashion obsession are bags, just so you wanna know.

So, yesterday on a regular chat basis, mom was able to find this website that sells junior clothing. The site is called Lulu's (http://www.lulus.com/) and I have to say their clothes are so cute and their collections are just about my taste. Casual, cute... ah! That sounds so good to me.

Plus, their prices are sooooo affordable. Fashion need not be expensive, as they say. Okay, this stops here - the post, that is! :-) Ciao!

It's More Fun in the Philippines Hype

Since Filipinos of today, lucky enough to have internet connections and Photoshop, are on a Fun in the Philippines hype, I decided to dive into that trip myself.

Here's my entry. Just something I tinkered but have no intention of including it in the campaign. The picture of the two girls are from http://www.livingincebu.org

My Late Grownup Christmas List

I know it has been days since Christmas passed. Somehow, I just felt the need to post some of the things I wanted for the 25th but, unfortunately, didn't have the money to buy one or just didn't have the time to spare. Some of the gifts that are part of the wishlist below are quite ambitious but, hey! This is a Christmas list, after all, isn't it?

1. Canon EOS 550D

When I said ambitious, I wasn't kidding. The reason why this is on top of my list is that I'm taking up Digital Media Arts and it includes movie editing, photography (too bad they phased that out in our school), etc. At first I was clueless as to what DSLR camera I'm going to buy but a friend who's a professional photographer suggested this since I'm a newbie and I'm looking for a cheap camera.

The Canon 550D or T2i takes great pictures and best of all, videos. You can check out vids on YouTube, though. They're amazing! Although reviews say it doesn't have autofocus, it's not that necessary for a SLR as manual focus is a lot better and you get to control the focus yourself. Autofocus would be a better option if you're doing a HD vlog and doing it without any assistance. But since the sole purpose of buying a SLR is to be behind the camera gal, then, 550D IS THE ONE.

2. Trip to Hong Kong for 1 week

I've been to Hong Kong once and that was 3 years ago. But the experience of stepping foot and the first time I came down on the plane felt like it happened yesterday or just a week ago. Maybe it's the first country outside the Philippines that I've been to, hence, I'm still gushing about it. No matter, that trip meant so much to me.

First, I got to be a kid again at Hong Kong Disneyland. Nothing can ever top that since I'm such a kid at heart and I grew up watching Disney movies.

Second, being able to meet new people from a different culture. Truth be told, I used to be a huge fan of Mandopop and Chinapop. So, it was very exhilarating and fan girl mode emerged. The only time I was able to meet celebrities, though, was at Madam Tusaud's Wax Museum. Would've been nice if they were actually there in the flesh.

Third, getting to eat food that's not even part of our local menu. What I love most about Chinese food, as in THE Chinese food, is that it actually helps with your digestive system. REALLY! No wonder a lot of Chinese people are thin!

3. Old Apple Earphones (without the mic)

During a recent visit to the Apple online store, there were many reviews about the new Apple earphones with microphone that they wear out fast. Some of those consumers even said the rubber surrounding the earphones tend to tear in a few months.

The reason I added this to my list is because everytime I get new Apple earphones (first from my iPod shuffle, second from iPod touch 2nd generation), it's either it got stolen and borrowed by someone who doesn't know where they put the earphones last - which is FRUSTRATING! Back in the days, these old earphones lasted me years and they worked pretty great.

So, instead of buying the new ones with microphone and since I don't really need one, I'd rather go for the old earphones.

I guess that's just about my "grownup" Christmas list. What's yours?
